Sadly, in Sri Lanka and most of the developing countries we do not.
What we did..
This project aimed to shed light on the microplastic pollution in 11 rivers in Sri Lanka. This is the first plastic pollution monitoring platform in Sri Lanka. This is developed as part of the World Bank funded PLEASE project.
With multiple stakeholders including MTS India, Deltares Netherlands, SACEP Sri Lanka, I am part of the project that aims to develop a 5-year master plan that aims to reduce the plastic pollution in the 11 rivers considered in this project.
To reduce the pollution levels, we first need to measure the level of pollution in the river. My role in this project is to analyze the data, visualize them, create an integrated database to record all the plastic pollution data and hand over the system to the Sri Lankan government.
As most of the countries in the world is facing microplastic pollution, I invite you to collaborate with me to tackle the microplastic pollution in the world!
